Drogue, flingues et jolies filles pour Alpha dog, le nouveau film de Nick Cassavetes. Le metteur en scène américain s'était jusqu'ici affirmé comme un spécialiste du mélodrame (She's so lovely, John Q, N'oublie jamais). Il passe aujourd'hui à la vitesse supérieure avec ce film noir qui s'attache aux agissements d'un jeune malfrat évoluant dans le milieu des trafiquants de drogue. Alpha dog a été présenté en janvier dernier au festival de Sundance. Le casting est particulièrement éclectique, puisqu'on retrouve à la fois des des stars confirmées comme Bruc Willis ou Sharon Stone et de jeunes comédiens prometteurs tels que Justin Timberlake ou Emile Hirsch.

   Furieuse contre son journal qui a censuré un de ses articles, Rowena claque la porte. Peu après, le corps d’une ancienne amie est découvert, assassiné. Rowena décide d’enquêter sur Harrison Hill, millionnaire playboy avec lequel la victime se vantait d’avoir eu une aventure à la suite de plusieurs séances de clavardage anonyme. Avec l’aide de son copain Miles, informaticien de génie, la jeune femme parvient à se faire embaucher comme secrétaire chez Hill et même à entrer en contact avec son pseudonyme par l’intermédiaire d’un site de rencontres. À mesure qu’elle se rapproche de sa proie, Rowena perd le sens de son enquête.
